Another reason to dislike Sarah Palin

OMG, I was just reading in the NYT quotes from the Couric interview w/ Palin and now it's personal.

And on gays, Governor Palin said: “But what you’re talking about, I think, value here, what my position is on homosexuality and you can pray it away, because I think that was the title that was listed on that bulletin. And you know, I don’t know what prayers are worthy of being prayed. I don’t know what prayers are going to be asked and answered. But as for homosexuality, I am not going to judge Americans and the decisions that they make in their adult personal relationships. I have one of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years happens to be gay, and I love her dearly. And she is not my “gay friend,” she is one of my best friends, who happens to have made a choice that isn’t a choice I would have made. But I am not going to judge people.”

Excuse me, Mrs. Palin but I didn't choose to be gay (not that if someone were to "choose" being gay there would be anything wrong with that...we are fabulous). I was born gay just like you were apparently born with limited capacity for knowledge.

Oy vey, Sarah! My absolute favorite thing in the world *dripping sarcasm* is when people preface/follow a judgmental comment by saying they aren't going to judge. Now if I could only find that rock she crawled out from under, I'd escort her home.

Also, am I the only one having a hard time following some of what she says? I think it's funny that the Times wrote it exactly as she said it. They could have used lots of []'s to show what she meant and they didn't. I would have added lots of (sic)'s if I had written that.

I can't understand her. But if I am getting the gist, she just "doesn't know" *throwing hands up in a shrug a la Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin* whether gay can be prayed away.

It seems a pretty basic fact that no one (except maybe a bisexual or 2) CHOOSE to be gay. It's like insisting a strait person could BE GAY. This straight person says: "No I couldn't. Really."

And, above all, as if gay is some kind of curse that you should turn to god to cure someone of. PLEASE HELP THEM!!! *SOB* *dramatically falling to knees... or so I picture from what I know about her church*

Ugh.

Below are more details on Palin's belief system, as provided by The Progress Report, whose email is perhaps the greatest source of daily information for liberals out there...

-------

In an interview with CBS News's Katie Couric this
week, Palin revealed that she believes that being gay is a choice. "One of my
absolute best friends for the last 30 years who happens to be gay," she
said, adding, "She is one of my best friends who happens to have made a
choice that isn't a choice that I have made." Yet all major mainstream
medical and mental health professional organizations have concluded that
homosexuality is not a chosen lifestyle. The American Psychological
Association states that "most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation."
But Palin's poor record on gay rights issues doesn't end there. In 2006, Palin
reportedly said she "can't defy" the state court's ruling that Alaska
"couldn't deny spousal benefits to the same-sex partners of public
employees" but also said that she would support a ballot initiative that
seeks to deny those benefits, and she supported her state's constitutional amendment to ban
gay-marriage. Palin's church, the Wasilla Bible Church, also takes the position that homosexuality is a choice. In fact,
it has sponsored a conference by James Dobson's Focus on the Family to help
gays "overcome" their homosexuality through prayer and
covert them into heterosexuality. These programs are opposed by every major medical association.

For the record, Sarah Palin's not dead yet. She's had many more barbs than Senator Biden, and you know what that means. HOCKEY MOMS, UNITE!

No, but seriously... she's been doing her homework. I still think she is NUTS, but I have a feeling this will help her numbers.

*shaking head*

I take back what I said. She's a total D-Bag.
