Dear P and D,
I still haven't received my sunglasses--the ones I left when I visited? Do you think something is wrong at the post office? D, would you be so kind as to inquire of your mother?
Okay, I KNOW you haven't sent them, but why not? You know that I rarely buy name-brand accessories... I NEED THEM! Desperately!
Are you holding them hostage until I upgrade my coat, purse and shoes (and socks)? I'm in the process of doing so. Promise. But, really, it's getting real sunny here and I am squinting so much, it's exacerbating my crow's feet.
Also, have you seen my jeans?

Well, for starters, the post office isn't right next door to our apartment. There also isn't one close to work. If I want to GO to the post office, I have to take a bus. When I mailed your Christmas present from work, I did it on my lunch break. It took me one hour and fifteen minutes round trip, no joke. So, you can see the reluctance.
I have to admit, it's not THAT bad of a bus ride from home, but I rarely think about sending your sunglasses when thinking about what "chores" I need to do that evening. You'll get them, but I feel your post implies that you are all about accomplishing things as quickly as possible. From your PREVIOUS post re: work, we all know that's a fib.
Lovies!

I didn't realize it was such a pain. I assumed your mail guy at work would deal with them for you. Or something.
That's fine. I have a HORRIBLE habit lately of leaving things behind when I stay with people (see, for reference: Carrie, who had to mail my hiking boots, a cell phone power adapter and assorted sundries to me after we stayed with her. And she lives in Brooklyn.) Will try to work on that.
A tip from the Queen of Lists: I have to make a list of stuff I need to pack before going on a trip. If you thought you might leave something behind, you could toss the list in the suitcase, and then it's right there when it's time to re-pack and go home. Additionally, you could try my OCD habit of checking everywhere about three times before deciding you've remembered to re-pack everything. :)
I thought you were in charge at work. So...you package up the glasses, address it and hand it to an underling. You tell them, "Would you please take a long lunch and mail that for me? Thaaaaaaanks."
You might even have mail pick-up in your building. Most offices do.
Less "tude" more "just do it"
Yes, yes I did. And I believe I sent the package within a couple of days of your departure. (But to be fair, the post office is less than a five minute walk from my apartment.)
It's true--I got my stuff back from Carrie right away. *glaring at P and D* BTW, P, what's YOUR excuse?
And, Laura--that's a good idea, but I'm sure it has P&D (and Carrie) laughing heartily because what typically happens is, my bag EXPLODES the second it lands in their guest bedroom and when I go to re-pack I just stuff it all back in. And that room is neat, so I don't really have an excuse for not seeing stuff I've left behind. But I suspect it might be one of the unfortunate results of said bag explosion. My sunglasses probably landed on the window sill or something.
And also--yeah! what Steve said! just do it!
Just for that, you're never getting them, missy.
And, for the record we get yelled at when we try to send personal things through the mail room.
And for another record, HI CARRIE!
Also, P's excuse is that if he just waits until I get annoyed, I'll do his chores FOR him.
Ummm I saw Jenn today...and it really looked like she might need these glasses....I mean really....
Just kidding...I just liked that she was fighting about it :)
