Whip fat

So I know that it's obnoxious to order a latte or other such caffeinated beverage with a laundry list of instructions. Hell, who hasn't ordered a grande, extra hot, no water half soy, half skim chai with no whip, no foam and extra cinnamon, no nutmeg in a venti cup? (Okay, I haven't.) But it's really tiresome to have to always be on your game when you approach the counter. The performance anxiety can often be intense! Especially when there are several douches behind you that are in a hurry to get their tall decaf in a grande cup (what's the point?).

Given this, is it so much to ask the barista to assume that if I order a non-fat latte, I don't want whipped cream? Shouldn't that go without saying? I'm sorry, I can't keep track of all of the drinks that have whip and I can't always remember to include "no whip" in my list of instructions. Therefore, would any baristas reading this blog please take note. When you see me coming, I authorize a blanket order for no whip.

Or, when you say no whip and the response is something like *scoff* "it doesn't COME with WHIP" Same here. I am not an expert on whip-non-whip drinks. You're the barista. All hail the barista!

Agreed. However, THIS morning I take full responsibility for forgetting to order "skim". I went to The Coffee Studio in our neighborhood. I was overwhelmed by it all and completely forgot. My bad. BUT, I would strongly recommend going there. It was the best vanilla latte I've ever had.

"forgot", huh.... like the time I "forgot" to tell them I only wanted a PIECE of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory, then got stuck eating the whole thing??**

**That never happened. I don't even LIKE cheesecake all that much. But a dozen cookies wouldn't have worked as well...

This was a real mistake. I'm positive that my loving it was not just because it was full fat milk. It was really that good. Sometimes, I think Starbucks tastes sort of burned. This didn't have any of that after-taste. AND, MY barista made the foam on top of my drink into a heart. *beam*

Well, I assume their default is 2%, not whole or cream. HAHAHA@ cream! Can you IMAGINE!!! Like ICE CREAM!!!

Although... I have taken to drinking whole milk. IT'S SO GOOD. Took me a few cups to get used to, but it is so creamy and good.

Why, you ask? Well, I have been reading a bunch about a healthy diet lately. One of them pointed out that they replace the fat in milk with whey protein which contains more testosterone hormones. Or estrogen-blocking hormones. Anyways, it's better for women of conceiving age to stick with the whole stuff, so long as it's not more than 1 or 2 servings per day. And I really only have milk with cereal and MAYBE a glass with dinner.

* 2% Milk - 120 Calories - 4.5g Fat
* 1% Milk - 100 Calories - 2.5g Fat
* Skim Milk - 80 Calories - 0g Fat

I'll be interested to hear if the skim version is as good. Get it again tomorrow with the skim!

-breathlessly waiting for the results!

I totally understand why you wouldn't want whip on a non-/low-fat drink. However, if you feel like a dessert but don't want the huge portion of cookie or brownie everyone sells you, a non-fat drink with whip is a good middle-ground. (Ha! "Ground." No pun intended!)

For the record, this past weekend I tried a latte with non-fat milk. It was as good. P tried one, as well. He agreed, but I only get him to commit to "it's better than Starbucks".
