Jenn's travels

*posted on behalf of one Mrs. Jennifer Grady*

4:58pm MST: Arrived at gate.  Waiting for plane to arrive.  Depart time still an hour and a half away...

6:18pm MST: Haven't boarded yet, but plane is here.  And it smells like fries.

6:22pm MST: and then I stood up and dropped my phone.  I was sure i broke it, but it seems ok.

*David now taking over the updates*

7:35pm CST: Southwest website says "now boarding".  Haven't heard from Jenn in 13 min.  Either she did, indeed, break her phone, or she simply got tired of texting.  Each option is just as likely.  In fact, I haven't bothered to text HER because I am tired of texting.

7:38pm CST: Southwest website now says "departed".  T-minus two hours until Jenn!

Time goes by, so slowly...

OMG I am SO ready to go home! I still have an hour to go. Daddy needs a weekend. Calgon, take me away!

The Panic Room treat!

So as this blog is called P. D. and J, the "P" better start contributing. Sorry, loyal subscribership (all 2 of you??) but I've been busy since this blog launched. I even missed the official launch party. Although now that I think about it, the noise that I heard last night and attributed to the "launch party" was actually probably just the cats (C&S, they currently wish to have their identies protected) getting freaked out by the snow and running around the apartment looking for our panic room. They belive once they find the elusive panic room, Jodie Foster will be there with Greenies, the only treats that don't make C throw up! (If that endorsement isn't worthy of our first corporate sponsorship, I give up!)

I find it ironic that the picture Jenn chose for our blog is one from her wedding. 2 issues with this:

1. It presents Jenn in full makeup and a fancy dress. Those of us that know and love Jenn realize that this is often far from reality. See previous blogs discussing how she will only be bringing a backpack to Chicagee. Also, ask her about the hideous hat she bought at a second hand store once.

2. David and I are wearing the same outfit (for the wedding, of course!). People have enough of a problem keeping the two of us straight. That's why I've started shaving a "D" into David's head in the middle of the night.

So look for a new picture of us soon. Perhaps we'll go to Sears Portrait Studio this weekend (another corporate sponsor potentially? Sears, call me!).

Leap Year Day

Is that today's official title? I went to Einstein's this morning and the guy who took my order told me if I said "Happy Leap Year Day" to the cashier, my coffee would cost $.29. Thrifty as I am, I DID and SAVED $1.30!!! So, I encourage all of our readership to ask about "Leap Year Day" specials today. The money you save today could last another 4 years!!*

Reporting to You Live

Well, now since I can blog from my phone, I will be sure to update you on my progress eastward all day long!!

8:57am: I confirmed my reservation and checked in online! Printed out my boarding pass and mentally prepared to check in at the gate (since I am a One-Bag Betty). Realized my boarding pass is in my new name and my driver's license is in the old name. Dave and I had no problems with this when we traveled at Christmas (oh, DIA security! Where the Homeland Security Alert has always just been raised to orange!), but it did remind me I really need to change my DL when I get back. I keep putting that and getting new passport pics taken bc my hair is never quite right...

9:00am: reviewed RTD bus routes from downtown to the airport. Chose the AF route. Mentally prepared to sweetly ask the bus driver as I board if this bus goes to the airport.

P.S. to P&D: I have carefully chosen hiking boots as my footwear. Will this be appropriate??

Jenn's Leaving, on a Jet Plane

And it had BETTER be on time! *shaking fist at Chicago weather systems*
Speaking of Jenn and travel, have you ever seen how she brings exactll one tiny little bag, no matter how long her trip is? And then she wears the same outfit for most of the trip. *sigh* That's our Jenn!

Breaking News: Jenn Travels to Chicago, Birthday Celebration Ensues

Jenn is coming to Chicago this weekend! *kickclap*

*gasp!* Perhaps this weekend we can make a video (FOR THE BLOG) demonstrating a kickclap!

Please note: I was born on March 4, 1979. The City of Chicago was incorporated on March 4, 1837. Coincidence? Probably.

Anyway, we're doing the following while Jenn is here:
  1. Going out to dinner at Francesca's Bryn Mawr
  2. Going to IKEA
  3. Going to Trader Joe's

Photos of the entire experience will be posted as they are made available.

Is this thing on?

I've wanted a blog for some time now. Why? Because I'm a follower, and it's what all the hip cats are doing. Also, what if our oh-so-humorous blog is discovered and beamed around the world by MSNBC? Then we'll be like that guy that cries because people pick on Britney Spears. On second thought... can I inactivate my account?!

First Blog

Yippee! Now we blog together! *touched*

For the history of the blog, the name was suggested by D. When I asked P&D what we should call our blog, he replied, "P. D. and J. And when asked what it stands for, we'll say 'peanut butter, dick, and jelly. Ever tried it????'"
