"I'm gonna move to Florida soon!"

I know it's hard to see, but the wind is what's the worst.  Fergie is very glad to be inside, I tell you what.

It's over...

...let the post-Christmas / Holiday let-down begin. It was exhausting, no? Same time next year!

Diarrhea (fft! fft!)

I just don't know what to do with our little Boston Terrier eating machine.  As I'm sure most of you know by now, Fergie has had bouts with diarrhea since we got her.  We've tried four different kinds of food, contacted the breeder we got her from, have made several vet appointments, and have googled "diarrhea and 'Boston Terrier'" 'til our fingers bled.  We've been assured that she'll grow out of it.  And I'm sure she will but in the interim, it's obnoxious.  Don't get me wrong -- I feel for my little schnarfey, but come on!  The current batch comes after a three-week period of relative firmness.  We think what set it off is THE CUP OF CAT FOOD THAT SHE ATE the other night.  Needless to say, P fixed the broken dog gate immediately following.

Other recent developments with The Ferg include:

  1. She has taken to air humping her bed.  No matter how much you try and stop her, she won't.
  2. She will stand in front of P (not me, just P) and bark at him for no apparent reason.  This drives P bonkers.
  3. Originally we thought she didn't shed.  We were wrong.
  4. She insists on eating sticks (which end up in her poop).
  5. She gets carsick.  That should make for fun road trips during Thanksgiving and Christmas!
I didn't mean for this post to be anti-Fergie.  I love her to death.  Here she is doing her best to look completely uninterested in everything.

Fergie & the disaster

Fergie surveying the damage after our great room flooded. You will note the exact moment the scale of the disaster finally sinks in...

Shut-Ins with a side of Activia

P is out of town this weekend.  He's in Seattle for a conference.  It's just me, the cats and the dog.  I have a lot to do in the condo.  The pets plan to do very little, unless of course you count sleeping and eating as a big weekend.

Fergie has been having "digestive issues".  That's a nice way of saying she has had the squirts.  This isn't the first time.  It all started a few weeks back when she got giardia.  Apparently it's quite common, but I felt like a bad parent.  We aren't sure exactly how she got it, but she eats EVERYTHING.  And by everything I mean dirt, leaves, rocks, twigs and her own poo.  To be fair (to Fergie), the only time she's eaten her poo is when she's had an accident indoors.  We think she's smart enough to know that she's going to get in trouble, so down the hatch!  Sick.  Anyway, she was on a "bland diet" (rice and chicken) and had to take medicine for a week.  About a week after getting off all of that, she got diarrhea again.  So, we went back to the medicine and bland diet for another week.  It all started up a third time a couple of days ago.  So, we went back to the vet.  This time, no giardia.  But she did get probiotics for healthy digestion, which is basically Activia.  So, Fergie is officially taking the Activia Challenge!  I'll refrain from posting pictures, don't worry.

I plan to clean out the closet in the spare room.  That shouldn't taken longer than a month or two, and I'm sure I'll regret it as soon as I start.  It's literally crammed full of unpacked boxes that we don't know what to do with.  The boxes have been there since we moved in.  I also have work to do.  Lots and lots of work.  I hate work.  But tonight, I decided that instead of working, I would catch up on all the TV I'm not allowed to watch when P is here!  So far I've watched "Julie & Julia", which made me want to make boeuf bourguignon.  That probably isn't a good idea since I'm the only one that would be eating it.  But it did look good.  I'll leave you with a little Julia Child.  I'm off to watch "The Fabulous Beekman Boys". Bon Appetit!

Watch the full episode. See more Julia Child.

Sit, Fergie, Sit! Good Dog!

In exactly one day this weekend, Fergie learned how to sit!  She will sit without food, but it takes her longer.

Fergie Update

Today we took Fergie for her 2nd vet visit. On her first visit, March 22nd, she weighed 3 lbs 1 oz. Only 3 weeks later, she's a whopping 4 lbs 7 oz. She's growing in front of our eyes!

She's getting better at the walking thing. Now she only occasionally stops and pulls back, not wanting to walk. Okay, more than occasionally but a lot less than before. I have to admit though the look she gives you when she does it is adorable! Totally stubborn! And taking her for a walk is also hard because we get stopped by people wanting to say hi to her
CONSTANTLY! And the funny thing about having a dog is that we have people in the neighborhood that know her name and we know their dog's name but we don't know people names! There is Tybalt, one of the big dogs that initially really freaked Fergie out... she lives down the street from us and is very sweet for such a big dog. And then there is Val, another Boston 2 buildings down from us... also owned by 2 gay boys. Yes, we've been mistaken for them already being the other 2 gay boys with a Boston.

Anyhoo, RuPaul Drag Race is on so it's time to go but I leave you now with Fergie, 9 weeks...

So far so good...

We've hit a few milestones already with Fergie. First of all, as I'm sure some of you knew, one of our biggest concerns regarding getting a puppy was how the cats would react. That has gone surprisingly well. Like REALLY well, all things considered. Absolutely no hissing. Only one minor incident of back arching... and it was not by who we would have thought (AKA Cole, the pu**y) but rather Sheila, who is herself more dog than cat. Once Fergie bounded after Sheila and the poor cat didn't know what to do, ran away and hid under the futon.

The second is that she's pooped outside twice now! And she seems to know what the wee wee pads are for. She's still not so fond of the outside world. For example, cars seem to freak her out. And other dogs. And the cold. And the sky. And rain. And, of all the luck, the day we brought her home (which happened to also be the first day of spring) it was snowing! She did NOT want to go outside. AT ALL. Not even in her stylish new coat (which, admittedly, is too big for her... so much so that she can't really walk in it... more like stumble backwards).

Right now she's sleeping comfortably in David's arms. We can expect to be woken up tonight at about 2 am and 4 am. But it could be worse!

She's finally here!

A few clips from Fergie's first days with us in her new home. Make sure you watch until the very end and pay attention with the sound up...

FERGIE!

It's quite obvious from the polling that our puppy's name is Fergie. To be exact, her name is Ferguson Eunice Germanotta-Ciccone.

Here's the latest picture! Two days and counting!
