Per Carrie's Request...

I forgot how much I love the Oscars.  Well, really, I have such fond memories of the Oscar parties P,D and I used to throw.  We would spend all day making apps, then get dressed up, then have everyone fill out ballots and win prizes.  The BEST part, though, was making catty comments during the show.  Oh, good times.

We had tossed around the idea of linking our Oscar parties, but the one Brian and I were going to host was a much more laid back affair (Bag of Stacey's pita chips and some hummous), plus we had a time difference.  (AND some technical difficulties as we decided to pause tv until our 2 guests got there, then everytime we tried to rewind or fast fwd, it would skip ahead to live tv, so I think we missed a lot.)  I think we should coordinate next year...  maybe we should switch between Chicago and Denver?

Today, I am enjoying looking at pictures from the after parties.  My new favorite couple: Sandra and Jesse.  Most likable celebrity: Gabourey Sidibe (and her mom who laughed heartily at Steve Martin's joke about his first role being as a poor black child, too).  Least likable: Vera Farmiga (or Veal Parmigana as I like to call her.  It helps me remember he name.)  What am I not getting here?  She seems listless to me.  And interesting looking at best.  Also: Woman I Would Most Like to Age Like: Sigourney Weaver.

An amusing after party shot:

Additional comments as I scroll through after party pictures:

Miley Cyrus (--WHY??) has scoliosis
Kristen Stewart is striking
I think Hilary Swank is looking for work--she's in quite a few of these pics
J Lo's people are apparently the best in the business. She has been everywhere lately. I have no idea why, but I assume it's a comeback.
Is Guy Pearce ill?
And poor James Cameron's wife! She looks so sickly! I can't imagine trying to be all smiles next to Kathryn Bigelow all night...

I watched the Red Carpet atrocity and all I can say is Kathy Ireland needs to be put down. I didn't recognize her, she annoyed the hell out of me and she has two hideous flaps of skin on her neck that reminded me of a Thanksgiving turkey. Sarah Jessica Parker also looked hideous. Some of the "Stars" made me wonder if someone had slipped me a hit of acid because their faces definitely had a melted look to them...

I take it you have an HD tv?

We do have HD TV (duh) and I have to agree with Will. The funny thing is, I tried to make a joke about Kathy Ireland and it seemed like I was the only one that was horrified. I didn't see the neck flaps, but the rest of it was definitely not what I remember Ms. Ireland looking like.

And as far as SJP is concerned, I felt like if the wind picked up, she was going down. I think she's taking the being related to a witch thing to heart. She seemed sort of... witchy to me. And orange.

And, J, Miley Cyrus' slouching was getting to me, too. I don't have perfect posture, but I'm not famous and I was not walking the red carpet.

But how on earth have none of you mentioned Judd Nelson??? Is HE gravely ill??? I was seriously disturbed by how most of the Brat Pack has aged. Cold, cold shivers. Only Ferris looked like he was still part of the healthy earthly realm.

From US Mobile:

Who stole the show during the touching tribute to late director John Hughes? Judd Nelson, 50.

Fans of Hughes' 80s teen comedy classics like The Breakfast Club and Ferris Buellers' Day Off were thrilled to see Molly Ringwald, Matthew Broderick, Anthony Michael Hall and Jon Cryer reunite to remember Hughes. But Nelson's shocking appearance inspired hundreds to instantly Tweet their surprise.

Entertainment Weekly editor Dave Karger wrote, "The entire crowd at the Elton John party just gasped at the sight of Judd Nelson."

Joked a Twitterer named "sportsguy33" : "Hi, this is Judd Nelson, I need a cab -- I'm at the Kodak Theater, heading back to the Homeless Shelter."

Added another: "I wondered what Molly Ringwald was so surprised about, and then I saw Judd Nelson."

My very first Oscasr: see stars (like Angelina Jolie) as kids attend the Academy Awards

Sniped "SSJ_WHB," Judd Nelson just killed a guy backstage."

But the actor -- who played "The Rebel" John Bender in 1985's Breakfast Club and kissed Ringwald at its conclusion -- has kept busy as an actor.

His IMDB.com profile notes he is featured in six films or TV films in 2010 alone.

Thanks, Jenn! I'm honored for the shout-out. A few thoughts:

Apparently, J Lo's people AREN'T the best in the business, or you'd know she's everywhere b/c she has a movie coming out (but come to think of it, the fact that I'm aware of that may actually prove their worth). We all gasped at Kathy Ireland and Judd Nelson, too. They were both so frightening!
